The first book of this collection, "Diary of a forest", was about the place where I was born and I grew up: Goizueta. We could say that this second book is the continuation of the previous one, as it follows the same path and spirit, but expanding the map to the whole landscape of the Basque Country.

What encourages me to leave home every day is to capture with the camera the most beautiful moments and the most revealing places through the four seasons. The idea: to discover on them the secret detail that the images reveal to us.

In this way, the knowledge and the experience are combined in one word: surprise. Thus, the journey is full of new places and unforgetable moments that are gathered in this book under the name "Essence".

The idea of making this book started twelve years ago, after
my first travel to Alaska. It happens very often that we don´t
apreciate the meaning of all that is sourrounding us until we go far away from the place we live.
I decided to give shape in a book all the sensations that werw coming from inside after remenbering those places I used to visit almost every day. the fog that covers the beeches in spring time, the squirrels running between the trees, or the joyful bird singing in the branches of the apple tree. All these images were coming to me every day time I remenvered the place werw I was borne.
With this book I trying to show my small world, the sensations that are overcoming me when I´m walking throug the rivers and woods of my childhood, when curling up in a meadow seing all the dew drops hunging ina spider net, or after listening the cranes flying towards the south
